Singapore National AI Strategy 2030

The new National AI Strategy was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat on Nov 13 2019. The brand new National AI Office under SNDGO will drive this Strategy as Singapore aims to be a leader in developing and deploying AI solutions by 2030.

FIVE NATIONAL AI PROJECTS

The following five national projects will guide investment in AI research, while aiming to deliver impactful social and economic benefits to Singaporeans :
-  transport and logistics,
-  smart cities and estates,
-  healthcare,
-  education,
-  safety and security
-  (more areas could be identified in the future).
Key enablers will also be developed to drive AI innovation and adoption across the economy. One of which is to strengthen partnerships and capabilities between the research community, industry and Government to speed up the deployment and commercialisation of AI solutions.

THREE PRINCIPLES FOR BETTER INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY

The new National AI Strategy has three objectives. This includes Singapore becoming a global hub for AI. The Government and businesses will use AI to generate economic value and improve people’s lives and the environment. Understanding the benefits, limitations and risks of AI, in order to thrive in an AI-driven economy, hence ensuring good governance of new technologies.
