Accompanied by a delegation of twenty people, including Antoine Petit (President of the CNRS), Yves Levy (INSERM President), Thierry Damerval (ANR President), Vincent Bergé (Director of Fundamental Research CEA), the Minister has moved to all Singapore research strategic points.
The minister’s visit was motivated by a major event for the Franco-Singaporean diplomatic scene : the official launch of the 2018 France-Singapore Innovation Year. The launch was made as part of the GYSS week, where Claude Cohen Tannoudji, Nobel Prize in Physics 97 ’, offered an inspiring speech.
Mrs. Vidal met with the main actors making up the Research ecosystem in Singapore. As a first step, the two major university campuses, NUS and NTU, the research institutes A*STAR and NRF, and the NRF CREATE campus : Campus for Research Excellence and Technological Enterprise, with which the CNRS works in the purpose of creating a joint research program.
The CNRS was at the heart of the event with the visit of the 4 UMIs BMC - CINTRA - IPAL and MajuLab and especially with the renewal of CINTRA and MajuLab, ready for 5 new years of research in Singapore and BMC’s 1-year signing extension. CNRS Labs, teams achievements enjoy an overall great recognition by Singaporean actors.




Finally, a few days after the launch of a Google AI research center in Paris, a special Artificial Intelligence round table came to close the program, during which concrete measures were decided between the two countries to advance on the theme.
Two rich and intense days confirming the strong links between France and Singapore, and the interest of a strong partnership for research between the two nations.
